McCain’s Daughter Thinks Republicans Should OK Gay Marriage: “At the end of the day, speaking at the Log Cabin Republicans’ convention isn’t just about reaching out to the gay community—although I believe doing so is vital to the future success of the party.”

Susan is a reminder that it’s time we all looked a little deeper. She has lived an obscure but important life. She has been a companionable and caring daughter. It’s people like her who are the unseen glue in society; the ones who day in and day out put themselves last. They make this country civilised and they deserve acknowledgement and respect.
Susan has been forgiven her looks and been given respect because of her talent. She should always have received it because of the calibre of her character.

Congress to Decide On Day of Silence: “Congressional Resolution 92 will receive an up-or-down vote on or before April 17, which is the National Day of Silence — a day when students across America are encouraged to show their support for the homosexual community by refusing to speak.”

Rick Warren Denies Endorsement of Prop 8: “California mega-church pastor and author of The Purpose Driven Life Rick Warren says he apologized to his homosexual friends for making comments in support of California’s Proposition 8, and now claims he “never once even gave an endorsement” of the marriage amendment.”
Why am I not surprised?

Educator Falsely Accused of Child Pornography: “It was an incident that began innocently enough, but nearly ruined the life and three-decade career of a veteran high school teacher and administrator.”
I can’t help but wonder if dirty school politics and/or racism had anything to do with this case? Many have suggested that Mr. Oei was Nifonged, to which I agree. But I also think that he was in a sense, bullied.
If you wish to contribute to Mr. Oei’s legal defense fund, go here.

NEWT GRINGRICH PROPOSES PAYING TEENS: “Newt Gingrich, often cited as a Republican prospect for president in 2012, says the state should consider paying teenager girls not to get pregnant.”
I don’t think this plan is going to work in the long run, because who is going to pay the girl to not get pregnant out-of-wedlock when she gets out of high school? College? And beyond? Of course, I’m more concerned about the increase in general of single moms of all ages, and not just teenage single moms.
And what about teenage boys? Who is going to pay them to not sleep around?

OREGON PROPOSES BICYCLE TAX: “a bill is proposed in Oregon that would require cyclists to pay a $54 registration every two years.”
Hmmm…. I wouldn’t mind paying a tax to help with upkeep of the roads, but if the cyclist also owns a car, couldn’t they simply lump the registrations together? Also, this does not bode well for cyclists’ privacy.

AMERICAN SECULAR HUMANISTS ON THE RISE: “As their numbers grow and the stigma of being nonreligious fades, nonbelievers are beginning to raise their voices to combat the influence of religion in politics.”
But someday everyone will embrace religion:
The whole world was astonished and followed the beast. Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?”
